The EuroLeague is the highest level of club basketball in Europe. That alone should make it more than exciting to watch. The league enjoys a global following. Reports place it at position five among all leagues in the world, with regards to the number of fans that it has. Some of the things that make Euroleague fun to watch are highlighted below.
The Format
The format used in the league is quite simple, but it makes the game very interesting. The regular season starts by each of the teams playing two matches against all the other teams in a round-robin format. The best 16 teams then advance to the Last 16 stage. The four teams that win the Last 16 advances to the Final Four and two winners of the Final Four meet in the Finals to fight for the title.
The Players
The players who participate in the EuroLeague are some of the best in the world. They have all the talent and skills to put on a show each time they play. Some of them are former NBA stars who have played at the highest level of professional basketball. The other players are the future stars of the NBA as many players are usually traded from the league.
No Parity
Unlike the NBA, EuroLeague does not base its plan on parity and salary caps. Players can earn quite significant amounts, especially those from the wealthy clubs. That means that upsets will rarely occur in the league. When they do occur, however, they are always quite exciting.
Extra Entertainment
EuroLeague is all about basketball, but fans are usually treated to various other forms of entertainment as well. For example, you can expect performers to put on a show during the halftime period when the players are resting and engaging with their coaches. Even individuals who do not love basketball have fun when they attend a live game.
